A household name for halal Korean BBQ buffet in Singapore. First of its kind too for Muslims here. Pretty similar to Han River Barbeque. Food selection is almost similar but price is a little dearer. Seatings are squezzy for certain branches.

Han River Barbeque - Buffet Korean Barbeque @ Simei Eastpoint

Han River Barbeque Restaurant
3 Simei St 6 #04-15 Eastpoint Mall Singapore 528833Tel : 6789-9555

Eversince Korean Barbeque stormed into Singapore, there are many such similar places growing like mushrooms here. But not many of those are halal. Han River is one of the halal choices for families, especially during weekends. Do call to book your seats. It's also one of the cheapest buffet Korean barbeque in Singapore. Only 1 branch in Singapore.
For those fancy to show your barbequeing skills, will be glad to come here. A wide selection of spread of meats (chicken, beef, mutton and lamb) and seafoods (fish, lala, mussels, marinated with sauses like black pepper, satay, sambal and many more ..... other choices of vegetables, fish balls, cockles, local hawker desserts like, jelly, chendol, ais kacang and ice-cream are available too. They also provide a huge choices of dipping sauses for the barbeque. You can choose either tomyam or chicken soup for the steamboat. Drinks are not free flow.
No worries of smoke lingering around as their air blower are doing a good job. Seatings are mostly long tables with other families seating next to you.

A popular halal buffet choice for families especially during weekends. Eat till you drop ! ... They served Japanese, Chinese, Seafood (Oysters, Mussels, Lobsters, Salmon etc...) and Western food. Free flow of soft drinks, western and local desserts, ice-cream and fruits are served too. I loved their grilled cheese oysters !!!..... sooooo good !!!
Seatings are plentiful but do call them to reserve your seats if you have a big group. Do note their Clementi branch has 2 levels of buffet spread, both serving different spread. So if you were to seat at the other level, you will need to go up and down to get your other food !!!! .... eat more but still possible to loose some fats while still walloping your buffet hahahaa..... but just be mentally prepared on this issue. Many would still prefer to visit the other 2 branches.
You can placed your colourful clips provided on your table with your table number on it, to place the hotplate dishes, satay, grilled fish, porridge etc ..... at the respective counters. The waiting staff will bring your order to your table once it's ready.

No matter how tempting those food are PLEASE do NOT waste your food !!! .... STOP taking / ordering more food if your digestive system gonna explode any second !! .... Buffet are places where you eat as much as you CAN ... NOT ... eat as much till you DIE !!!! Don't be gready !!

On another note, its not a place to bring someone who is a small eater. Not a good idea at all .... It will be a waste bringing them, they can pay 1/3 of the price to a non buffet places.
Good place for BIG gathering, families, friends ... the place is quite noisy with people talking, eating, gossiping, commenting, drinking, BURPING and some may even fart !!! ..... BEWARE ;p

Probably a place for the rich who enjoys plush luxurious ambience to enjoy the normal hawker buffet fare. But it's an expensive place to have such food for a bourgeois or peasant (more accurate i think ;)) like me. But ...sometimes you do feel like giving yourself a BIG treat to a grand place for simple food, don't you ?... so bet this will be it. Been there for about 4 times with my hubby, same thing - we went there on special occasions before Carousel opened. It seems like the only 5 star hotel which serves halal buffet spread. Well, that was then .... (before carousel opened heheee...). During Ramadhan, the pipe music here plays Warna - a local malay radio station which airs the Azan. Think it's the only place Muslims will feel at home and welcomed in a grand 5 star hotel where many others are too westernized.

Back to the food, as I said, its hawker buffet spread. You can find Malay, Indian (South & North), Chinese, Nyonya, kuehs, local desserts such as chendol, goreng pisang and many others. A great place to recommend if you like to have such ambience and halal buffet. The staff there are just wonderful, making sure that your finished plates are cleared, smiling, topping up your sky juice without even asking. Professional .......... Local hawker food with a class of service and ambience. And remember to reserve your seats to avoid disappointment. Sorry I forgot the prices ... prob about the same like Carousel. Not cheap !!!

Understand that Royal Plaza on Scotts is owned by Sultan Brunei so the food there are all Halal (except for the wine of course) ..... Here is definitely a MUST for most Singaporeans to fine dine to a Halal Buffet spread. For dinner, they served, Japanese, Chinese, Malay, Indian, Western, Mediterranean and an enormous spread of fresh seafood. A rotisserie sizzles waiting to whip up your appetite. Don't forget to check out their wide spread of desserts too. A variety of fruits and marshmellows are available for you to dip into the smooth chocolate fondue.

Many goes there to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Personally been there for about 3 or 4 times celebrating our special occassions too ;p Don't forget to reserve your seats to avoid disappointment. Buffet dinner starts from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. They have a Musollah too, marvelous !!!

Will be going there again next week for my hubby's birthday, more pics will be up then.

Their famous signature dish - Ikan Otah Kukus is a MUST try for everyone. Other must try dishes are Cumi Bali (sotong), Cumi Goreng Istimewa, Beef Rendang and Ayam Panggang (grilled chicken). Lunch hour is crowded with office workers from nearby offices. But .... I used to drive all the way downtown for their food from Jurong where I used to work !!

Hajjah Maimunah Restaurant & Catering (Nasi Padang) - Jln Pisang & Joo Chiat

Hajjah Maimunah Restaurant
11 Jalan Pisang (Arab Street) Tel : 6291 3132
20 Joo Chiat Road #01-02

This place is a hit with many Singaporeans for Nasi Padang food. They served a wide variety of dishes including, tahu goreng, ikan bakar, rendang and their famous asam pedas fish. Not forgetting they also serve varities of traditional malay kuehs too.

Their main branch in Jalan Pisang looks much better after an upgrading but became smaller as it used to have 2 units, aircon and non-aircon. It's very packed during lunch hours. Not a fine dining kind of place but it's a sure fine food haven.

Their new branch in Joo Chiat (opp Joo Chiat Complex, Geylang), has 2 levels. So there are more tables available. The service is fast and no worries of how you will have to carry your dishes up to the 2nd floor. Waiting staff will make sure that your orders will be on your table.

Prices are reasonable, a little bit more than foodstall but still very cheap than eating in a Malay / Indonesian restaurant.
